Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Rehabilitation Nurse Technician (RNT) on the Stroke Unit for full-time, 12-hour day shifts. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the RNT assists with activities of daily living, mobility, skin and catheter care, and supports unit quality initiatives while precepting new staff.

This role serves adults and children in a rehabilitation setting, focusing on helping patients regain independence and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Current CNA certification or RN program enrollment with two clinical rotations completed.
• Basic math skills required.
• Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people and provide high level customer service.
• Understanding and support of Northwestern Medicine's Mission and Values.
• Flexibility to adapt in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and mobility under RN supervision.
• Maintains skin care, bowel/bladder programs and catheter care as directed by RN.
• Records vital signs and reports changes to the RN promptly.
• Supports transfers and ambulation with proper techniques and devices.
• Participates in unit quality projects and may precept new staff.
