Job summary

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a Full-Time Stroke Coordinator to collect and report data for the stroke population, working with the neuroscience department and EMS partners to improve care quality.

The role requires an RN with a nursing diploma (MSN preferred), 3+ years in neuroscience nursing, and certifications in NIH Stroke Scale and Modified Rankin Score within 3 months. Strong communication and leadership abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
• MSN preferred for advanced practice.
• Minimum 3 years of neuroscience nursing; 5 years for higher-capacity centers.
• NIH Stroke Scale and Modified Rankin Score certifications within 3 months.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• CPR per AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
• Current RN licensure; Stroke Certified RN; Act 34 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collects and reports data for the stroke patient population and audits medical records.
• Acts as liaison and educator to neuroscience staff, referral centers, and EMS.
• Serve as Joint Commission liaison for the neuroscience service line.
• Lead stroke initiatives and develop staff orientation and ongoing education.
• Oversee data abstraction related to Joint Commission, core measures, and meaningful use.
