Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Strip Mill Operator for night shift (10:45pm–7:00am) to blend and process rubber compounds through the mill and batch-off within specifications. The role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and safe operation of machinery.

You will monitor production, ensure quality, and communicate with team members during a 3rd shift cycle. The position offers overtime potential, tuition assistance, PTO, wellness resources, training/development, and an employee stock purchase

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of general computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Blend and process compounds through the mill and batch-off within specifications.
• Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Monitor production output to maintain quality control.
• Identify issues with the product or process and take corrective action.
• Pull rubber stock from the mill and feed onto the take-off belt.
• Communicate with other staff to coordinate shift activities.
• Perform other duties as requested and complete the two-roll safety checklist.

What Success Looks Like:

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Necessity for attention to detail.
• The ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output.
• Ability to identify any issues with the product or process.
• Job requires the operator to cut the rubber stock off the mill and to be able to lift it back up to band on the mill
• Must be able to pull a rubber strip(s) approximately 2 to 20 inches wide, from the mill and feed it onto the take-off belt located approximately three feet away
• This job is on a two to five-minute cycle
• Requires the operator to communicate with the additional staff members
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
• Fill out two-roll safety checklist
• Assist in establishing and maintaining compound processing procedures

Your Credentials:

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• High School or GED preferred
• Willing to work overtime including weekends
• Knowledge of general computer skills.

The hourly rate for this position is $18 per hour, plus $1.00/hour shift premium for 2nd and/or 3rd shift.

3rd shift - 10:45pm - 7:00am
