Job summary

Quanex is seeking an Operator 1 to run manufacturing equipment on 2nd shift (2:45pm-11:00pm). The role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and adherence to SOPs to ensure product quality. You will perform setup, monitor equipment, and support 5S, safety, and lean initiatives while maintaining a safe work area.

Overtime, weekends may be required. This position offers growth in a dynamic culture and potential bonus benefits through the company programs.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• High School or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Perform basic setup, changeovers and adjustments as needed.
• Monitor equipment performance and report issues to maintenance or supervision.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure product quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area (5S standards).
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Adhere to all safety policies and wear required PPE.
• Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output.
• Identify issues with product or process and communicate findings.
