Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Stress Test Assistant to support the stress test coordinator in direct patient care before, during, and after exercise and pharmacologic cardiac stress testing.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, assisting nurses and technologists, restocking supplies, and maintaining safety and cleanliness in the nuclear medicine setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred; CPR required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Restock supplies and set up exam rooms as directed.
• Interview patients for history or chief complaint.
• Prepare patient for stress test and monitor vitals as directed.
• Provide post-test home instructions under supervision.
• Learn nuclear medicine safety principles and policies.
• Dismiss patients after tests are completed.
• Clean rooms and equipment after each patient.
• Complete exam paperwork.

Job Description

The Stress Test Assistant is responsible for functioning as an assistant to the stress test coordinator in providing direct patient care before, during and after exercise and pharmacological cardiac stress testing and with holter/event monitor placement, education and scanning.

Job Relationships

• Reports to the Operations Manager

Principal Responsibilities

• Restock supplies and set up exam rooms as directed by the stress nurse or nuclear medicine tech.
• Interview patients for history and/or chief complaint.
• Prepare patient for stress test including taking blood pressure before during and after the stress test as directed by the stress nurse or nuclear medicine tech.
• Give home instructions to patients for post stress tests under the direction of a stress nurse or nuclear medicine tech.
• Learn nuclear medicine radioactive isotope safety principles and policies.
• Dismiss patients upon completion of their test.
• Clean exam room and equipment after each patient.
• Complete paperwork associated with the exam.
• May be required to insert IVs if licensed to do so.
• Follow through with requests made by the nurse or technologist to assist them in the performance of their duties.
• Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
• Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
• Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Three to five (3-5) years' experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Licenses/Certificates

• Credentials as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.

• Must possess manual dexterity to handle equipment and appliances.
• Must be capable of stooping, bending and lifting.
