Job description

Description

To perform various duties related to nuclear stress testing. Performs patient care functions related to perfusion imaging and stress testing.

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Perform functional and/or perfusion rest and stress cardiac studies, including processing images for physician to review.
  • Follow radiation safety policy and NRC/State guidelines for handling of radioactive pharmaceuticals, including but not limited to conducting daily surveys of hot lab, exam room, camera and personnel.
  • Perform hot lab duties: ordering, receiving, administration and disposal of all radioactive materials in accordance with NRC and state rules and regulations.
  • Perform random audits of NMTs image quality control and radiation safety.
  • Place IV and heplock for patients in states where state law does not allow the CST/CCT to perform this function
  • Call patients with appropriate instructions and answer any question, obtain appropriate consents prior to testing.
  • Perform imaging procedures in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Modify techniques as appropriate to patient conditions and situations so that optimum results are achieved.
  • Process clinical studies in a timely fashion for prompt results reporting. Notify physicians of abnormal test results for appropriate follow-up.
  • Assist in all aspects of stress testing. Monitor patient response to exercise and pharmacologic stress and provide emergency care when indicated. Monitor patients post-stress testing and advise appropriate staff of patient problems.
  • Trouble shoots and maintains equipment as required including appropriate calibration to ensure high quality.
  • Performs equipment downloads following proper office procedural guidelines and protocols.
  • Accurately documents patient care for medical records.
  • Perform other duties as needed and required to improve quality and patient satisfaction.
Requirements
Education
  • CPR Certification
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in health or business administration preferred.
  • Graduated of an accredited Nuclear Medicine training program
  • Registration with the NMTCB or ARRT certification
Experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of direct experience in nuclear medicine.
Equipment Operated
  • Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Work Environment
  • Position in a well lighted office environment. Frequent contract with a variety of people.
Physical Requirements
  • Involves sitting approximately 80 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder. Some bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
