Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks an Engineering role focused on structural analyses and repair design for aerospace structures. You will perform static and fatigue analyses, develop repair instructions, and collaborate across MRB, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering to enable efficient, reliable repairs.

The position emphasizes using FEA tools like Patran, proving reports for internal/external customers, and applying continuous improvement to reduce turnbacks and improve performance.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Experience performing static stress and fatigue analysis using classical methods and finite element analysis.
  • Experience with load paths, free body diagrams, load balance, and common failure modes.
  • Experience using Patran, or comparable finite element analysis tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analyses using hand and computer calculations, including static and fatigue analysis of aerospace components.
  • Define, assess, and document repair designs for metallic, bonded metallic, and advanced composite aerospace structures.
  • Work with MRB to develop standard repair instructions.
  • Analyze repair proposals and prepare formal engineering reports supporting repairs for internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
  • Support corrective action and defect reduction initiatives by identifying recurring technical issues.
  • Develop and implement processes, methods, and tools that improve efficiency throughout Engineering Production Support workflows.
  • Develop or improve engineering methods, tools, databases, and automated workflows that increase efficiency.
  • Apply CORE tools and continuous improvement principles to reduce process turnbacks and improve engineering performance.
  • Communicate technical findings, recommendations, risks, and decisions clearly to engineering leadership and stakeholders.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform structural analyses using hand and computer calculations, including static and fatigue analysis of aerospace components.
  • Define, assess, and document repair designs for metallic, bonded metallic, and advanced composite aerospace structures.
  • Work with Materials Review Board (MRB) to develop standard repair instructions.
  • Analyze repair proposals and prepare formal engineering reports supporting minor and major repairs for internal and external customers, which may include obtaining authorized engineering signatures.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities across product lines and processes.
  • Support corrective action and defect reduction initiatives by identifying recurring technical issues and contributing to sustainable solutions.
  • Develop and implement processes, methods, and tools that improve efficiency throughout Engineering Production Support workflows activities.
  • Develop or improve engineering methods, tools, databases, and automated workflows that increase efficiency.
  • Apply CORE tools and continuous improvement principles to reduce process turnbacks, improve engineering performance, and support the objectives of the organization.
  • Communicate technical findings, recommendations, risks, and decisions clearly to engineering leadership, customers, and cross functional stakeholders.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Experience performing static stress and fatigue analysis using classical methods and finite element analysis.

  • Experience using Patran, or comparable finite element analysis tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience preparing clear, accurate, and well-organized technical reports.
  • Ability to apply established structural analysis methods and engineering standards to solve technical problems.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, leadership, and customer organizations.
  • Experience analyzing metallic or advanced composite aerospace structures. Experience in Stress Engineering Production Support (MRB Stress) and/or MRO environment.
  • Proficiency in programming and automation tools such as Python, Excel VBA, VB.NET, C#.NET, Visual Basic, or similar languages for developing internal engineering tools, automating repetitive tasks, and improving workflow efficiency.
  • Knowledge or practical experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Generative AI, or AI-assisted engineering tools is an advantage, particularly in applying AI to engineering design, analysis, documentation, or
