Job Description

This role as a Structures Engineer focuses on the design and development of various structures of a natural gas power plant. You will solve challenges such as designing a turbine casing that can survive the thermomechanical stresses of a rapid startup to designing compact, transportable piping systems that withstand high pressures and temperatures.

Key responsibilities include structures design, material selection, thermostructural analysis, manufacturing development, and testing. The Structures Engineer role is a responsible engineer (RE) that will be the primary owner of their system or component with responsibility from concept to performance in the field.

Basic Qualifications

• MUST HAVE MADE AND DELIVERED HARDWARE BEFORE. Everyone at Stone has pushed hardware. It’s in our blood.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or Structural Engineering
• Experience designing structures or structural systems (level based on years of experience).
• Experience performing stress analysis calculations using both hand calculations and FEA tools (level based on years of experience)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience designing structures in CAD (NX or similar) and using GD&T
• Experience in material selection with a focus on steels and superalloys
• Experience performing thermostructural analysis in FEA (Ansys, Abaqus, or similar)
• Experience with high temperature structures where thermal stress and creep are driving considerations.
• Experience with structures manufacturing methods such as casting, forging, additive manufacturing, and welding.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Working knowledge of ASME, BPVC, API, and other professional codes.
• Experience in a highly technical position that required a scrappy, entrepreneurial manner to enthusiastically accomplish tasks with tight time or budget constraints
