Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Stress Analyst for a contract position in Costa Mesa, CA. The ideal candidate has a solid background in aerospace structures and stress analysis, with strong FEA skills and experience with composite and metallic structures.

The selected candidate will perform design and analysis tasks, engage in trade studies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Onsite support at manufacturing sites is expected, with a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Aerospace Structures, Stress Analysis, or Structural Analysis experience.
• Aircraft structural analysis experience involving composite and metallic structures.
• Strong Finite Element Analysis (FEA) background using NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP, or similar tools.
• Experience performing stress, fatigue, buckling, damage tolerance, and load path analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Job description

Akkodis is seeking a Stress Analysts for a Contract job with a client in Costa Mesa, CA . Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the Aerospace .

Rate Range: $125/hour to $150/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Utilize first principle methods and design tools to develop new aircraft products

• Own development of primary and secondary aircraft structural parts and assemblies (metallic and composite) from preliminary design through prototype manufacturing
• Perform complex modeling and finite element analysis at the detailed component level, major assembly level, and aircraft level (analysis simulations to include strength, buckling, damage tolerance, and delamination)
• Apply design for manufacturing concepts to create solutions that are cost effective and easy to manufacture at rate
• Conduct trade studies and perform design and analysis research of complex engineering concepts to determine an optimal solution for weight, performance, manufacturability, cost, and/or schedule
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment to solve complex, open-ended problems with an emphasis on schedule and cost objectives
• Coordinate work with mechanical systems, systems integration, aerodynamics, manufacturing, project engineering, and other team members
• Onsite engineering support at manufacturing and integration sites

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of Aerospace Structures, Stress Analysis, or Structural Analysis experience
• Aircraft structural analysis experience involving composite and metallic structures
• Strong Finite Element Analysis (FEA) background using NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP, or similar tools
• Experience performing stress, fatigue, buckling, damage tolerance, and load path analysis
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Ability to perform engineering hand calculations and apply structural mechanics fundamentals
• Experience working on prototype, fast-paced, or clean-sheet aircraft programs
• Knowledge of composite materials, fabrication methods, and manufacturing considerations
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing, integration, and test teams
