Overview

The Strength & Conditioning Trainer is a coaching professional responsible for delivering safe, effective, and results-driven strength training to Club members through personal training sessions, small group training, and fitness floor support. This role blends technical coaching expertise with genuine hospitality: you are equal parts strength coach, movement educator, and ambassador for the Club's fitness culture.

This is a member-facing role where presence, professionalism, and coaching quality are non-negotiable. You are visible on the fitness floor, engaged with members at every level of experience, and trusted to program intelligently for everyone from the first-time lifter to the seasoned athlete. You represent the standard of what training at the Club means.

Success in this role looks like a full and growing training book, members who see measurable progress and train with confidence, a fitness floor that feels welcoming and expertly supported, and a reputation among members and teammates as the coach who does it right every session.

Essential Responsibilities
Training & Program Design
  • Design and deliver individualized strength and conditioning programs based on member goals, training history, movement assessments, and health considerations.
  • Conduct member fitness assessments, movement screens, and goal-setting consultations; document baselines and track progress over time.
  • Coach proper exercise technique, alignment, and movement quality in every session; correct form in real time and prioritize safety over load.
  • Apply sound programming principles: progressive overload, periodization, appropriate exercise selection, and intelligent progressions and regressions for all fitness levels.
  • Deliver personal training sessions, small group training and specialty strength programming as scheduled.
  • Adapt programming for members with injuries, limitations, or special considerations; refer members to appropriate medical or allied health professionals when needs fall outside scope of practice.
  • Stay current on strength and conditioning research, coaching methods, and industry best practices; bring that knowledge to the floor.
Member Experience & Floor Presence
  • Maintain a visible, approachable presence on the fitness floor during assigned floor hours; members should never feel supported in the space.
  • Greet members warmly and by name when known; build genuine relationships that make the fitness experience personal and consistent.
  • Provide equipment orientations, spot requests, and technique guidance to members on the floor, whether or not they are training clients.
  • Promote Club fitness programs, personal training services, and small group offerings in a professional, service-first manner.
  • Support new member fitness onboarding: welcome consultations, facility orientations, and introductions to Club programming.
  • Handle member questions and concerns with professionalism and follow-through; elevate sensitive or recurring issues to leadership with clear context.
Safety & Equipment Standards
  • Ensure all training areas, free weight spaces, and equipment are safe, organized, and member-ready throughout every shift.
  • Re-rack weights, straighten equipment, and restore training spaces to organized condition; hold members and teammates to the same standard.
  • Sanitize equipment after each training session and support scheduled cleaning rotations on the fitness floor.
  • Inspect training equipment regularly; promptly report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to management and remove unsafe items from service.
  • Follow and enforce all Club safety procedures, emergency protocols, and incident reporting requirements
Operational Discipline & Team Standards
  • Arrive a minimum of 10 minutes prior to each scheduled session or floor shift, prepared and ready to coach.
  • Manage the training schedule accurately: session bookings, confirmations, cancellations, and session records in Club management software.
  • Accurately record all hours worked by clocking in and out and maintaining an up-to-date timecard.
  • Wear professional athletic attire while onsite and represent the Club's standard in appearance and conduct.
  • Communicate professionally with management via email, phone, and text during normal business hours.
  • Complete required administrative tasks, training assignments, and company meetings in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Club policies, operating procedures, and site-specific SOPs.
Qualifications
  • Current nationally accredited personal training or strength and conditioning certification required: NSCA-CSCS, NASM-CPT, ACSM, ACE, or equivalent. CSCS or comparable advanced strength credential strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience coaching strength and conditioning, personal training, or athletic performance; private club, luxury hospitality, or high-touch fitness environment experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of strength training principles, biomechanics, program design, periodization, mobility, and injury-aware coaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach members of varying ages, abilities, and training backgrounds with equal skill and care.
  • Excellent cueing, communication, and interpersonal skills; warm, composed, and professional across all interactions.
  • Genuine service orientation: you take pride in doing the job right, you notice the details others miss, and you hold yourself to a high standard.
  • Reliable and consistent; members and teammates depend on you to show up and perform at a high level every session.
  • Proficiency with fitness scheduling or club management software; experience with Book4Time or similar platforms preferred.
  • Flexible availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays; the Club's busiest training times require this role to be fully present.
Physical Requirements

This is a physically active role. The Strength & Conditioning Trainer must be able to actively demonstrate exercises and coach hands-on for the duration of scheduled sessions; stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach for extended periods; safely spot members during resistance training; and frequently lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. The role requires the physical stamina and energy necessary to safely deliver high-quality coaching throughout a full shift.
