Job description

This role provides strength and conditioning coaching and administrative support within The George Washington University’s NCAA Division I athletics programme, which includes 400 student-athletes across 20 varsity sports. The post holder will design, implement, and evaluate sport-specific training programmes, support the use of technologies such as Forcedecks, Nordbord and Kinexon GPS systems, communicate with coaches and sports medicine staff, manage physical training and injury-limitation considerations, support intern and graduate student involvement, and maintain compliance with NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference, and University rules and regulations.

This role appears to align with IQF Level 6, as it involves designing, implementing, and evaluating sport-specific speed, strength, and conditioning programmes for assigned NCAA Division I varsity athletic teams. The role also includes sports science technology implementation, communication with sport coaches and sports medicine staff, risk management, injury limitation considerations, and support with organising, recruiting, and instructing interns or graduate students. Although the role reports to the Assistant Athletic Director, Strength and Conditioning, the advertised responsibilities indicate autonomous practitioner capability and professional accountability within a defined collegiate sport environment.

Salary and Role Alignment

Amber. The salary range is disclosed and the upper end may be broadly acceptable for an early-career Level 6 collegiate S&C role. However, the lower end appears modest for a full-time NCAA Division I role requiring programme design, evaluation, sport science technology implementation, coach and sports medicine communication, risk management, 40+ hours per week, nights, weekends, and support for interns or graduate students. The criteria are relatively proportionate because a bachelor’s degree is required, while a master’s degree, S&C certification, and 1 to 2 years’ coaching experience are listed as preferred rather than essential.

This role has been classified by IUSCA based on publicly available information. The classification is intended to support professional transparency and help practitioners and employers understand the relationship between role scope, responsibility, autonomy, qualification expectations, and salary alignment.
