Job summary

The City of Grand Forks is seeking a Public Works Operations Supervisor in the Streets department to lead daily street maintenance, snow and ice control, and related infrastructure.

This role supervises crews, ensures safety, coordinates equipment, and delivers high-quality municipal services while aligning with budget and regulatory requirements. The position demands strong leadership and communication to support mobility and infrastructure resilience in all seasons.

Qualifications

• Six years of increasingly responsible experience in Public Works, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
• Experience with budgeting, procurement, and crew management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of staff.
• Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; implement improvements.
• Identify, research, analyze, and report resource allocations in equipment and personnel.
• Address external and internal customer concerns or complaints.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and efficient use of staff hours, facilities, inventories, and equipment.
• Participate in staff selection, training, and performance management.
• Provide leadership to staff representing the City in service delivery and safety.
• Prepare budget recommendations and participate in budget planning.
• Co-lead the Procurement Team to maximize value and efficiency.
• Ensure revenue handling and proper financial procedures.
• Coordinate warranty or non-warranty work to optimize vehicle and equipment availability.
• Communicate and prioritize procurement, maintenance, and disposal of City-owned equipment.
• Participate in meetings regarding compliance, capital projects, and customer relations.
• Perform related duties as required.
