Job summary

The Town of Front Royal is seeking a Maintenance Worker for our streets department to perform unskilled and semiskilled work in public works, parks, landscape and utilities construction, maintenance and repair projects. The position focuses on street and sidewalk work and requires after-hours work for snow and ice removal.

A valid driver’s license is required; CDL Class B with air brakes is preferred. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• CDL Class B with air brakes endorsement may be required by time of hire.
• Certification in Flagging, Pavement Marking, Work Zone, and First Aid/CPR within six months.

Responsibilities

• Perform unskilled and semiskilled manual labor in maintenance and repair of public facilities, buildings, grounds, streets, utilities, and related areas.
• Spread asphalt and patch street surfaces; assist with concrete work.
• Assist with snow and ice removal.
• Assist other crews as needed.
• Clean up debris from streets and sidewalks.
• Available after hours as needed.
• Perform related tasks as required.

Job description

The Town is seeking a Maintenance Worker for our streets department to perform unskilled and semiskilled work in a variety of public works, parks, landscape and utilities construction, maintenance and repair projects. The position is primarily street and sidewalk work and requires after-hours work in snow and ice removal. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license. A Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement is preferred.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday
• 7:00am to 3:00pm

• Valid driver's license
• CDL Class B with air brakes endorsement required at time of hire or within six months of employment

Work Environment

• Outdoors: The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions.

Physical Demands

• This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
