Job summary

The City of Hanford is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to run a variety of construction and maintenance equipment for streets and storm drains. You’ll perform safety inspections, assist with crew tasks, and support the supervisor with technical tasks while upholding safety and service standards.

Requirements include two years of relevant heavy equipment experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and California licenses (C and A with tanker/air brake endorsements) within a year.

Qualifications

• Two years of responsible experience operating heavy equipment.
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Possession of or ability to obtain CA Class C and Class A driver’s licenses with tanker and air brake endorsements within twelve months.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes, motor graders, bobcats, and bulldozers on a variety of construction and maintenance projects.
• Load and transport heavy equipment utilizing tractor trailer.
• Perform safety inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Assist with streets crew maintenance functions when not operating equipment.
• Utilize safety devices per MUTCD and maintain positive working relationships with team and public.
