Job summary

City of Arlington is seeking a worker to install, repair, and maintain the streetlight network. You will handle poles, bases, fixtures, and ancillary equipment, both overhead and underground, following NEC, NESC, and TxDOT safety rules.

You must be able to climb poles up to 40 feet, handle heavy tools, respond to emergencies, and obtain a CDL Class A within 6 months of employment. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic low and high voltage electricity.
• Knowledge of NEC and NESC rules and guidelines.
• Knowledge of TxDOT safety rules and guidelines.
• Knowledge of TMUTCD and TEEX guidelines.
• Ability to use power tools such as jackhammer, back hoe, rotary hammer, mechanical ditcher, etc.
• Ability to respond to emergency callouts and work flexible hours, including overnight hours.
• Must possess a Texas Operator's License (Class C) and obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain streetlights and related equipment including poles, bases, piers and fixtures by concrete work and setting up boxes.
• Install ancillary streetlight equipment (conduit, switch boxes, transformers) overhead or underground.
• Work in hazardous environments, using appropriate safety procedures and equipment.
• Locate underground faults in streetlight circuits using electronic locator tools.
• Maintain records of work orders, materials and hours.
• Train others in streetlight maintenance and safety practices.
