Job summary

The City of Arlington is seeking a Streetlight Specialist to install, repair and maintain the streetlight network, including poles, bases, piers and fixtures, both underground and overhead.

You will work with high voltage equipment, follow NEC/NESC and TMUTCD/TEEX guidelines, respond to emergencies within an hour, and maintain accurate field records while training others in the operation and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year experience in electrical construction.
• Valid Texas Operator's License, Class C.
• Must obtain Texas CDL, Class A, within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain streetlights and related equipment including poles, bases, piers and fixtures.
• Install ancillary equipment (conduit, switch boxes, transformers; underground or overhead).
• Work in dangerous locations, following Oncor, NEC and NESC guidelines; repair streetlights and circuits up to 14,400 V incoming and various outgoing voltages.
• Interpret TxDOT TMUTCD and TEEX rules for work zone traffic control.
• Report within one hour for 24-hour emergency support; maintain inventory and records; train others.
