Job summary

The City of Pittsburgh seeks a skilled professional to oversee operation and management of street lighting and City-owned poles. You will ensure maintenance aligns with City standards and lead the LED conversion strategy in coordination with other departments.

Responsibilities include managing the streetlight contractor, reviewing plans, and serving as the chief contact for streetlight assets. Evening/weekend work and policy updates may be required.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time experience in project management or related fields.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Urban Planning or related field required.
• Equivalency may be used to meet the total seven years of qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs and monitors the inspection of all agreements involving repair, replacement, or modification of existing street lighting.
• Manages the City's streetlight contractor to ensure work complies with contracts.
• Coordinates with City departments and external stakeholders (e.g., Duquesne Light) on streetlight infrastructure.
• Reviews right-of-way and lighting plans to ensure new poles/fixtures meet City standards.
• Reviews submitted pole permits within OneStopPGH when permits include modifications to existing streetlights.
• Serves as the main point of contact for streetlight operations and assets.
• Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Supports updates to Right-of-Way procedures, Lighting Code, and related policy documents.
• May work in the field on neighborhood or emergency projects/applications.
• Represents leadership at meetings and stays current on regulations and practices.
