Job summary

EMBARK seeks Streetcar Tech I to perform maintenance, repair, and inspections on streetcars to ensure safe, reliable operation. Under supervision, you will diagnose mechanical issues, conduct preventive maintenance, and repair components such as lights and interior/exterior systems.

Required: high school diploma or GED; basic electrical/mechanical knowledge; ability to read manuals and operate diagnostic tools. Safety-sensitive position with background checks and DOT considerations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and overhauling electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience in diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of electronic propulsion systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles, repair methods, standards and practices.
• Knowledge of test equipment and tools for repair, maintenance and installation.
• Strong knowledge of electronics including digital and analog systems.
• Knowledge of general shop safety procedures.
• Ability to read, understand and apply information from manuals and service bulletins.
• Ability to operate a computer and MS Office products.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Streetcar Yard Operation certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform supervised diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of electronic propulsion systems.
• Repair electronic destination PA systems, displays and other electronic systems in transit vehicles.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections per manufacturer guidelines.
• Troubleshoot electrical, electronic and mechanical problems and locate causes.
• Repair track, switch and related systems under supervision.
• Use test equipment, torque wrenches, multimeter, oscilloscope and other tools.
• Maintain records and report defects; document work performed.
• Ensure shop area and vehicles remain clean and safe.
