City of Galveston is seeking a Street Technician II to support street maintenance and repair operations. Under general supervision, you will operate heavy equipment, monitor conditions, and help improve street systems.
You will lead small crews, analyze data, maintain records, and ensure safety compliance. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a Class B Texas CDL.

Under general supervision, the Street Technician II performs and assists in coordinating street maintenance and repair operations. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and helping monitor and improve street system processes.
Supports the relationship between the City of Galveston and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work‑related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned. Employees may at any time be required to work in order to provide for the safety and well‑being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services, in the event of an emergency.
Knowledge: Thorough understanding of street maintenance practices, tools, and materials. Intermediate data analysis and problem‑solving abilities. Thorough understanding of construction practices and city maintenance procedures. Thorough understanding of safety procedures and practices. Willingness to learn the use of equipment and tools. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Intermediate understanding of personal computer and various software applications.
