Job summary

The City of West Covina is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to patrol for municipal code violations, interpret regulations, and pursue compliance. This role supports the Street Sweeping Initiative and collaborates with multiple departments and external agencies.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, with CACEO certification or a related Bachelor's degree substituting for experience; a California Class C license and PC 832 certification within six months are required.

Qualifications

• Six months of responsible experience in public enforcement.
• Equivalent to High School graduation or G.E.D. required; CACEO certification or a related Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
• Possession of a Class C California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required.
• Possession of a PC 832 certificate required within six months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Enforce provisions of City zoning ordinances and business license requirements.
• Investigate violations and complaints and initiate legal action to gain compliance.
• Work with all City departments, county and state offices on enforcement matters.
• Represent the City in court and liaise with the City Prosecutor.
• Provide information to the public regarding municipal code requirements and servicing complaints.
• Maintain records and perform related duties as required.
