Job summary

The City of Staunton's Public Works Department is seeking an Equipment Operator I-Street Sweeper Operator to join its Streets Division. The role operates street sweeping equipment, performs daily maintenance, and supports snow removal operations as needed.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid Virginia CDL Class B (or obtainable within 6 months). Prior public works experience is preferred; evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of experience operating motorized maintenance equipment.
• Experience in public works or maintenance environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates street sweeper and related heavy equipment to clean City streets, alleys, and parking areas.
• Inspects and services equipment daily and checks for wear or issues.
• Maintains logs of sweeping routes, mileage, and maintenance performed.
• Assists with snow and ice removal operations and related tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
