Job summary

City of Hesperia’s Public Works Department seeks a Street Operations Manager to lead street maintenance, traffic signals, and related infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient services for the community.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets and contracts, and coordinate with other City departments and outside agencies to deliver high-quality public works operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Five years of supervisory experience in street maintenance, construction PM, or maintenance/administration.
• High School diploma or GED with ongoing public works supervision coursework.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates Street Operations activities including maintenance, traffic signals, striping, and street sweeping.
• Supervises staff, manages budgets and contracts, and develops division goals and work plans.
• Coordinates with City departments and outside agencies to ensure high-quality public services.

Examples of Duties:

Plans, directs, and coordinates Street Operations activities, including street maintenance and repair, traffic signals and signs, striping, street sweeping, weed abatement, graffiti removal, and facility maintenance. Supervises and evaluates staff, manages budgets and contracts, develops division goals and work plans, monitors operations and safety, and coordinates with City departments, officials, community members, and outside agencies to ensure efficient, high-quality public services.

Typical Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Street Operations Manager. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of five (5) years of supervisory experience in the following areas: street maintenance; construction project management; maintenance or administration, and a High School diploma or GED supplemented by continuing education course work in public works maintenance and supervision, building management or administration, or related subjects.

License/Certificate:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class “C” California driver’s license.
• Possession of a Traffic Signal Maintenance Level I Certification within one year of appointment.
