Job summary

The City of Harrisonburg's Public Works Department seeks a Technician II for Street Maintenance. This full-time role offers benefits with a preferred hourly range of $22.35–$24.58, equivalent to roughly $46,488–$51,126 annually.

You will operate equipment, assist with concrete work, supervise crew members, and support daily reporting, inventory, and various maintenance tasks. CDL is required or obtainable within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent; 1–3 years in heavy equipment operation.
• Valid CDL required; ability to obtain within 6 months if not held.
• Rotating stand-by for off-hours emergency response is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium to large motorized equipment and perform minor repairs.
• Use handheld tools such as concrete saws and jackhammers as needed.
• Operate backhoes, loaders, dump trucks and related equipment.
• Install, repair, maintain, and clean facilities and grounds.
• Set forms and grades for sidewalks, curbs, ramps, slabs and foundations.
• Supervise assigned crew members and assist with daily reports and data entry.
• Participate in street and utility construction/maintenance and snow/ice control.
