Job summary

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker I/II to perform construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, curbs, gutters, and related structures at the Municipal Service Center in Newbury Park. The role involves heavy manual labor, traffic control, and record-keeping.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, experience in streets/public works maintenance, and a valid Class C California driver's license.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Experience in streets or public works-related maintenance and construction work.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk on level or slippery surfaces; lift, carry, and push tools weighing 25 pounds or more; work in inclement weather.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
• A valid Class C California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Breaks and removes concrete using a hydraulic breaker and handwork.
• Repair or replace cracked, raised, sunken, or damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of streets, curbs, gutters, storm drains, and related structures.
• Perform heavy manual labor in removal, repair, and finish of concrete and asphalt work.
• Operate and maintain maintenance and construction equipment, tools, and machinery.
• Conduct traffic control when working in traffic areas; install barricades and cones; direct traffic around work sites.
• Maintain records of work performed.
