The City of Goldsboro is seeking a dedicated individual for maintenance tasks involving street and sidewalk upkeep. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to operate various tools and equipment. Candidates should have a high school diploma and some experience in maintenance work. The position involves both indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions, ensuring the safety and functionality of city infrastructure.
Negotiable between $33,119 and $42,724 depending on a candidate's qualifications and experience.
Performs a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor tasks to maintain the City’s streets and sidewalks. Familiarity with concrete and asphalt applications is preferred. Responsibilities include preparing and forming concrete for sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and pads, as well as repairing potholes and utility cuts with cold patch and hot asphalt. Work involves labor-intensive tasks using basic hand, gas, electric, and pneumatic tools such as shovels, rakes, chain saws, jackhammers, and concrete saws. Employees may assist with concrete and asphalt work, operate non-specialized equipment, and maintain operational equipment and work records.
Heavy work requiring exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds frequently, and/or 20 pounds constantly. Physical activities include climbing, crouching, kneeling, manual dexterity, hearing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, stooping, walking, and visual acuity.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors, in extreme weather conditions, and involves exposure to hazards like traffic, chemicals, moving parts, oils, confined spaces, and trenches. PPE such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields are required.
