Job summary

City of Stephenville seeks a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator in the Street Department to perform street and drainage maintenance using a variety of equipment under the Street Superintendent. You will operate trucks and machinery, assist with flagging, and respond to on-call emergencies as needed.

Must hold a Texas CDL and a High School Diploma or equivalent, pass background and drug screening, and maintain safe operating conditions on outdoor job sites across all weather.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations in the operation of assigned equipment.
• Must understand work hazards and proper safety precautions.
• Must understand proper traffic control placement of warning signs and work barricades.
• Must be able to complete maintenance and repair work orders.
• Must be able to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
• Must understand utility location marks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Participates in street and drainage maintenance and repair work.
• Operates light and heavy machinery (e.g., shovel, dump truck, loader, backhoe, roller, mechanical broom) safely.
• Assists in flagging traffic around work sites.
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests during and after hours when on call.
• Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
