Job summary

City of Belton, MO is seeking a street maintenance worker to perform a variety of routine and skilled labor on city streets. The role includes asphalt and concrete repairs, snow removal, and operating a range of equipment.

The candidate will assist with sign maintenance and may serve as crew leader on projects, ensuring safety and quality while interacting with the public and city staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 6 months street maintenance/construction experience.
• Valid Class B State CDL with air brakes within 6 months.
• Traffic Control Certificate within 6 months.
• Flagger Training within 6 months.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs asphalt repairs and maintenance, including milling, hauling, and paving with equipment.
• Performs concrete work such as replacing sidewalks, curbs, and driveways with bobcat or backhoe assistance.
• Performs snow and ice removal, plowing, salt spreading, and related maintenance of trucks and equipment.
• Operates equipment including skid steer, asphalt roller, backhoe, mowers, sweeper, and loader.
• Maintains storm drains and ditches, installs rip-rap, and repairs culverts as needed.
• Assists with sign maintenance and painting of crosswalks and stop bars; assists with emergencies as needed.
• Serves as crew leader on projects, establishes grade, assigns duties, and ensures safety on site.
• Performs maintenance and repair of equipment, including changing teeth, replacing hydraulics, and welding.
