Job summary

The City of Saint Paul is hiring an Engineer Technician Supervisor in the Street Engineering and Construction Division of the Public Works Department. The role supervises technical and administrative staff and coordinates sidewalk projects, permits, and ADA compliance to ensure safe, compliant public infrastructure.

Open to candidates with appropriate PW Technician III experience and Civil Engineering coursework.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 30 semester credits in Civil Engineering courses toward an undergrad degree (U of M or equivalent).
• Two years of experience as PW Technician III or equivalent, performing field and office engineering tasks.
• For asphalt plant positions, notes differ but overall supervisory experience applies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead and train technical and administrative staff in sidewalks, street engineering and construction.
• Administer and oversee permitting and licensing process for sidewalk permits.
• Manage and oversee sidewalk complaint program, software, and related processes.
• Administrator and oversee the use of infrastructure and construction software.
• Manage and administer ADA compliance as part of the sidewalk program.
• Administer and oversee ordinance permits and right-of-way permits for the division, along with associated plan reviews, agreements, and construction completion.
• Oversee contract administration, work quality, specification compliance, and contractor performance.
• Manage, update, and enforce construction specifications for all aspects street and utility construction.
