Job summary

The City of Missouri City is seeking three full-time Street Technician I positions to maintain streets and drainage systems and support safe public infrastructure. The role reports to Streets Crew Leader and involves hands-on repair, equipment operation, and emergency response.

Responsibilities include road and drainage repairs, traffic control, and assisting during emergencies. A high school diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience are required, with 24-hour recall possible.

Responsibilities

• Performs street maintenance and repairs including concrete pavement, pothole patching, asphalt, wheelchair ramp, and curb repairs.
• Sets up and maintains traffic control measures: flagging, barricades, and work zones for safety.
• Performs saw cutting, mud jacking, form setting, and other roadway/concrete repair tasks.
• Constructs and repairs drainage structures, including inlet tops and aprons.
• Performs drainage maintenance: pipe setting, debris removal, and hauling materials.
• Operates and maintains heavy equipment: bulldozers, backhoes, and loaders.
• Operates light equipment and hand tools such as jackhammers and chainsaws.
• Assists with emergency response for Police, Fire, and City departments.
• Supports sanding bridges/roadways and traffic control during hazardous conditions.
• Removes fallen trees and debris during emergencies and severe weather.
• Loads, transports, and unloads materials and equipment as needed.
• Maintains a safe, clean work area and follows safety policies and traffic controls.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Subject to 24-hour recall and emergency call-out as needed.
