Job summary

The City of Friendswood's Public Works Department is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support repairs of city streets, curbs, sidewalks, drainage systems, and rights-of-way. The role involves operating backhoes, tractors, and trucks, and performing storm sewer maintenance and emergency responses.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 6 months to 1 year of experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license. Street maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year of relevant work experience.
• Valid Texas driver's license; city/county/state experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates backhoe, tractors, and drives crew trucks.
• Maintains and repairs streets, curbs, and sidewalks.
• Installs and repairs storm sewers, inlets, and manholes.
• Operates laser-leveling equipment for ditch elevations.
• Operates mowing equipment for ditches, shoulders, and easements.
• Operates water jet truck to clean culverts and storm sewers.
• Provides emergency response after hours for storm damage and traffic incidents.
• Follows safety procedures to prevent injuries on job sites.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
