Job summary

City of Maypearl seeks a Streets & Drainage Technician I to perform skilled construction and maintenance within the Public Works department. The role covers street rehabilitation, drainage, traffic control, and customer service requests, under general supervision.

The position requires hands-on maintenance work, operation of light equipment, and adherence to safety standards. It involves collaboration with team members and responding to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of street maintenance work and operation of light equipment/motorized vehicles.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of light equipment, hand tools, and radios with safety practices.
• Ability to learn the TMUTCD provisions as it relates to the job.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other employees.

Responsibilities

• Performs general road maintenance and manual labor as required.
• Cuts brush, trims trees, and mows grass.
• Mixes concrete, seals cracks, and erects fences.
• Builds type III barricades and repairs guard rails.
• Cleans drainage ditches, picks up trash, and places asphalt mix.
• Sets up traffic control and signs to ensure safety.
• Assists during emergencies such as floods and severe weather.
• Sands bridges, maintains warning signs, and sets up barricades.
• Maintains daily work records and hours worked.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
