Job summary

City of Maypearl is seeking an Equipment Operator to support street, trail, and storm drainage maintenance under general supervision. You will operate a range of construction equipment and assist a field crew in daily tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of equipment operating experience. CDL with Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain is required, along with relevant safety certifications. On-site work with occasional emergency repairs.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Three or more years of experience as an equipment operator.
• Possession of a Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain prior to employment.
• Possession of Work Zone Certification, Flagger Certification, Backhoe Certification, and Skid Steer Certification or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist a field crew in maintenance and construction of streets, trails, parking structures, alleys, and storm drainage systems.
• Performs duties including asphalt and concrete repair, mowing, maintenance of storm drains, catch basins, and storm drain pipes.
• Operate construction equipment to repair and maintain the streets and storm drainage systems.
• Maintains records and prepares reports of work performed and materials used.
• Plans, lays out, estimates and arranges for materials and equipment to execute the job successfully.
• Oversees an assigned area and identifies asphalt in need of repair, or re-construction.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, the public, contractors, and others.
• Hauls various types of material to and from various locations.
• Sets up traffic safety devices and barricades as necessary.
• Performs emergency street, sewer, storm drain, or other public service maintenance work as required.
• Reads and interprets plans, specifications, blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
