Job summary

You will build high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed data systems powering Apple Music, TV, and Podcasts, with focus on real-time streaming and cross-datacenter replication. You’ll own end-to-end deployment, contribute to architectural reviews, and drive observability, tooling, and edge latency improvements across global deployments.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of professional experience in server-side Java development with concurrency, memory management, and performance.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, fault tolerance, and system performance.
• Experience with RESTful API design and service-oriented architectures.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable technical specifications.
• Design, build, and deploy high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed systems capable of scaling under heavy production loads.
• Lead end-to-end software development and take full ownership of production services that drive large-scale data movement and storage capabilities.
• Lead and actively participate in technical design reviews, helping set architectural standards and best practices across engineering groups.
• Gain deep domain expertise to proactively identify system bottlenecks and propose innovative technical solutions.
• Take ownership of independent research and proof-of-concept projects to evaluate emerging technologies and address complex engineering challenges.
