Job summary

Apple Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Compute Platform to build data-driven features for a large-scale batch compute system. You will own end-to-end features from data analysis to production serving.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across Apple to improve efficiency, reliability and capacity planning, including on-call rotations and production validation.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in a general-purpose language and ability to design, debug, and test complex software systems.
• Working knowledge of distributed systems and OS fundamentals.
• Experience instrumenting large-scale infrastructure and analyzing data it produces to improve production systems.
• Ability to reason quantitatively about production data and risks.

Responsibilities

• Own features end to end from data analysis through the model or heuristic, APIs, production serving and measurement.
• Implement changes across the stack, from platform services to node-level configuration.
• Design and run validation in production: shadow mode, staged rollouts, success metrics and rollback plans.
• Hold yourself and others to a high quality standard for Apple products.
• Engage with customers and partner teams to understand workloads and forecast needs.
• Provide quantitative analysis for sizing, planning and prioritization decisions.
