Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Stream Design Engineer (Professional Engineer) in Seattle, WA. You will lead restoration and river engineering efforts, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to meet transportation and permitting needs.

The role emphasizes design of natural channels, habitat features, and hydraulic analyses, with collaboration across environmental scientists, geotechnical, and transportation engineers. Strong client relations and mentorship are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• WA Professional Engineer license, or ability to obtain licensure.
• 5+ years designing stream restoration, river engineering, or hydraulic projects.
• Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software (HEC-RAS, SRH-2D, HY-8).
• Experience with construction plans and specifications for water resources.
• Knowledge of WA permitting and agency coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, analysis, and design of stream restoration and river projects.
• Develop hydraulic and hydrologic analyses for crossings and restorations.
• Design natural channel systems, bank stabilization, and habitat features.
• Prepare designs using natural infrastructure and LWM where applicable.
• Coordinate with agencies on environmental permitting.
• Prepare reports, plans, specs, and cost estimates.
