Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks a City Research Scientist III for the Watershed Agriculture, Forestry and Streams division in Arkville, NY. Qualifications

• Master's or doctorate in an appropriate physical, biological, environmental or health science field.
• Experience in supervisory, administrative or research capacities.
• Two years as City Research Scientist I can substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage scientific research, assessment, monitoring, and technical support initiatives for SMP priorities.
• Develop and update SMP work plans with DEP staff and partners.
• Plan, coordinate, and track technical and scientific projects, schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate activities among DEP programs, consultants, and external partners.
• Review technical reports and invoices to ensure QA/QC and timelines.
• Assist with procurement, contracts, and project expenditures tracking.
• Serve as liaison between SMP and internal/external partners via working groups and workshops.
• Prepare management reports and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support field investigations and post-flood assessments as needed.
