Job summary

Icarus is developing solar-powered aircraft to reach the Stratosphere. The Flight Operations Generalist will take aircraft from hangar to sky and back, setting up test sites, preparing aircraft, performing preflight, and flying under engineers' guidance.

You will troubleshoot in the field, monitor telemetry, and coordinate with engineers to drive iterative improvements, while traveling to remote sites and working outdoors in challenging environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on UAV/RC/aircraft operations experience or equivalent military UAV roles.
• Ability to set up, preflight, operate, and recover unmanned aircraft.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and software systems.

Responsibilities

• Set up the test site and aircraft, including safety setup and power
• Assemble, configure, and prepare aircraft for flight with payload setup
• Run preflight inspections and ensure aircraft readiness
• Configure ground control station, telemetry, and mission plan before flight
• Act as the liaison between engineers and products during flights
• Operate the aircraft from the ground control station and monitor real-time telemetry
• Respond to anomalies and maintain calm, decisive flight control
• Perform launch and recovery, including non-traditional takeoff/landing
