Job summary

Icarus is seeking a Flight Operations Crew Chief to own aircraft readiness across the flight line. You will assemble, inspect, and prepare solar-powered aircraft for flight, coordinating with engineers and operations to ensure each sortie is safe and ready.

Role requires hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and software systems, and willingness to travel to remote test sites worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on aircraft, UAS, or RC maintenance experience or equivalent military experience as a maintainer/crew chief.
• Holds or willing to quickly obtain FAA Part 107 certification.
• Demonstrated ability to assemble, inspect, maintain, and sign off on an aircraft's readiness.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
• Disciplined approach to checklists, documentation, and configuration control.
• Willingness to ground an aircraft not ready based on airworthiness.
• Able to follow engineers' directions and translate into flight-ready status.
• Willingness to travel frequently to remote test sites globally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the aircraft: assemble, configure, and prepare for flight including mechanical assembly, avionics, and payload setup.
• Run preflight inspections and checklists; determine aircraft readiness.
• Set up ground support equipment and verify site readiness.
• Own aircraft configuration from hangar to line.
