Job summary

MercyOne, headquartered in Des Moines, IA, seeks a Chief Strategy Officer to guide strategic planning, business development, and population health across the MercyOne network within Trinity Health. The role reports to the CEO and leads a small team in a highly matrixed environment.

You will attend board meetings, align initiatives with Trinity Health strategy, develop new ventures, and partner with marketing to promote programs. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position in Iowa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field required.
• Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• 10–15 years of related business experience in corporate development, strategic planning or financial planning role, preferably in healthcare.
• Multi-hospital experience and experience with physician alignment preferred.
• Strong management, facilitation and development skills; experience working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of MercyOne's strategic planning process.
• Oversee population health initiatives and value-based care strategies.
• Align MercyOne strategy with Trinity Health Mission and Planning.
• Identify market growth opportunities and major programs; lead new ventures and major partnerships.
• Collaborate with Trinity Health planning, M&A and Partnership Development teams on transactions to support growth.
• Provide expert internal consultation on emerging healthcare trends.
