Job summary

TSE Industries Inc. is seeking a Director of R&D and Quality to lead research, development, process scale-up, and quality assurance for polyurethane toll manufacturing. You will drive new product transitions from lab to production and manage analytical and quality labs.

The role partners with customers, operations, and sales to deliver scalable, compliant, and commercially viable formulations while safeguarding quality systems and customer relationships.

Qualifications

• MASTER'S degree in Organic Chemistry with substantial related work experience.
• Five to seven years of experience in chemical formulations, with polyurethane knowledge.
• Working knowledge of analytical lab devices such as Brookfield viscometer, FTIR, GPC and titration equipment.
• Demonstrated understanding and familiarity with applicable government regulations and general chemistry guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transition of polyurethane formulations from laboratory development through pilot trials and full-scale production.
• Partner with customers to understand technical requirements, product performance, processing needs, and commercial objectives.
• Translate customer concepts into laboratory development plans and viable formulations.
• Lead formulation development, raw material evaluations, performance testing, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Identify opportunities to expand technical capabilities, product offerings, and toll manufacturing business.
• Set project priorities based on customer commitments, growth opportunities, technical feasibility, and ROI.
• Collaborate with Chemical Process Engineering and Operations to establish procedures, process parameters, and quality controls.
• Troubleshoot scale-up challenges and investigate deviations to achieve consistent product performance.
• Identify and mitigate technical, operational, safety, and quality risks of new formulations and changes.
• Serve as a senior technical resource for polyurethane toll manufacturing customers and build relationships with customer teams.
• Lead technical discussions on new product development, formulation modifications, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Provide leadership for the quality function and maintain the Quality Management System.
• Monitor quality performance metrics and implement improvements to reduce scrap and variability.
• Manage Analytical and R&D laboratories and mentor R&D, lab, process engineering, and quality personnel.
