Job description

Capital Healthcare Planning is seeking a Consultant with 2+ years of analytics experience to support hospital and health system clients nationwide. This role is ideal for someone who has already worked with healthcare data (hospital analytics, finance, decision support), or someone who has worked as an analyst in a non-healthcare industry, and wants to transition into strategy, forecasting, and executive decision support. You will work directly with healthcare leaders on projects that influence healthcare strategy, hospital capacity planning, service line development, and long-range capital investment decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
Healthcare Analytics & Strategy Support
  • Analyze hospital utilization, patient flow, service line volumes, and financial performance
  • Translate complex healthcare data into clear, decision-ready insights for executives
  • Support market assessments, demand forecasts, and strategic planning models
  • Validate and integrate client data across multiple sources (claims, encounters, financials)
  • Build and maintain Excel- and Tableau-based tools used across consulting engagements
  • Work with large healthcare datasets and impose structure and logic
  • Improve existing models and tools rather than starting from scratch each time
Client Exposure & Professional Growth
  • Contribute to client presentations and working sessions
  • Learn how consultants frame problems, communicate tradeoffs, and advise executives
  • Gain exposure to a wide range of business challenges

This is not a pure reporting role and not IT-focused business analysis. The emphasis is on thinking, modeling, and strategic interpretation, not just producing outputs.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who already has real exposure to data analysis and wants to grow into a strategy-oriented analytics role.

Required Experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Analytics
  • Finance or strategy
  • Or other management consulting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in an analytical field (finance, economics, analytics, statistics, etc.)
Core Skills
  • Strong Excel skills (modeling, formulas, structured analysis) with 2+ years in a professional setting
  • Ability to explain analyses clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Comfort working independently on ambiguous problems
Preferred (Not Required)
  • Experience with large operational or financial datasets; healthcare data strongly preferred
  • Exposure to hospital settings, service lines, or capacity planning
  • SQL or database experience
  • Client-facing experience

We care far more about applied judgment and analytical thinking than GPA.

Why This Role Is Different
  • Direct exposure to senior consultants and partners
  • Strategy-focused analytics, not just reporting
  • Work on real hospital decisions that executives act on
  • Broad exposure to healthcare systems nationwide early in your career
  • Opportunity to grow into senior analyst and consultant roles
Location & Work Arrangement
  • Houston office near the Galleria, or Hybrid office in Denver, CO or Salt Lake City, UT
  • Hybrid arrangements considered depending on experience and fit
  • Base salary typically ranges from $65,000–$105,000, depending on experience
  • Performance bonuses in addition to base salary
  • Medical, dental, and prescription coverage
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Paid holidays, sick time, and parental leave
  • Professional development and learning support
