New Leaf Custom Homes (working with our partner companies – The Design Shop and Pools by Design) designs and builds architecturally significant custom homes, interiors, and outdoor spaces in the Dallas–Fort Worth market.
Our mission is to create spaces and experiences that inspire joy, connection, and belonging, setting the standard for craft, creativity, and care in everything we build and design, while nurturing a workplace where our people thrive together as one family.
We are looking for a strategic operator who wants to build, not just advise.
The role
As the Strategy & Operations Leader, you will work directly with the Owners as well as the leadership team on the company's most important problems. One week you might size a new market or build the operating plan; the next, you might stand up a new process and drive it to completion across teams.
As an associate to mid-Senior leader, you will both be creating impact as well as directing it. You will be expected to bring consulting‑grade rigor while also being ready to own outcomes, not just recommendations. You will report to the Owner and partner closely with the business including leaders in Finance, Product, Sales, and Operations.
What you'll do
- Lead high-priority strategic initiatives from problem definition through execution, including market entry, pricing, go-to-market, and operational efficiency projects.
- Structure ambiguous business questions, form an early hypothesis, and build the analysis, models, and frameworks behind it from scratch.
- Own the company's planning rhythm: annual and quarterly goal-setting, OKRs, and business reviews that keep teams aligned and accountable.
- Turn complex data and qualitative insight into clear, conclusion-first recommendations for executives and the Board.
- Build and improve operating systems where none exist yet, such as decision frameworks, dashboards, and cross-functional processes.
- Influence and coordinate cross-functional teams without formal authority, keeping multiple deadline-driven workstreams moving at once.
- Use AI tools to speed up research, analysis, and the production of executive-ready work.
What you bring
- 3–7 years of professional experience, including 2–4 of those years at a top-tier management consulting firm (such as McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Oliver Wyman, L.E.K., Kearney, or the strategy practice of a Big-4 firm).
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong structured problem-solving skills: you bring clarity to ambiguous problems quickly and move comfortably between high-level strategy and tactical execution.
- Analytical horsepower, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint and comfort building financial and operational models from scratch.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication. You write conclusion first, distill the "so what," and tailor your message to executives and frontline teams alike.
- A track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority and driving initiatives through to results.
- An execution-oriented mindset: you hold timelines, close the loop, and get things done without being managed.
- Fluency with AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to enhance problem-solving, analysis, and output quality.
Nice to have
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- Experience in a strategy, business operations, or Chief of Staff role at a high-growth company after consulting.
- Exposure to Board-or investor-level materials and direct work with C-suite executives.
- Industry experience in construction or mid-sized companies.
Who thrives here
People who do well in this role, share a few traits. We weigh the work you've done over the title(s) you held. In other words, the fit is crucial, we look for:
- Builder, not just advisor. You are comfortable doing both the thinking and the doing, and no task is too big or too small.
- Low ego, high ownership. You take tough, fast feedback without getting defensive, and you see the success of the teams you support as your own.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. You move fast with little structure and make good decisions when the path isn't fully defined.
- Curious. You want to learn how every part of the business works and which levers drive growth.
- Sound judgment and discretion. You handle sensitive information carefully and know when an issue needs to reach leadership right away.
- Desire to be coached, developed, and supported into a broader management position. You have ambitions to take on more strategic responsibility including grow your skills as a managing director, president and/or influential leader.
