Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking a Vendor Relations & Bid Manager to lead the team that handles supplier relations and pricing governance. You will recruit haulers, negotiate master rate agreements, and ensure compliant vendor files, supporting margin-driven bids.

This role requires 6+ years in procurement or pricing, a bachelor’s degree, and strong Excel modeling and negotiation skills. The position is based at our Cincinnati HQ and offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in business, supply chain, finance, or a related field required
• 6+ years in procurement, vendor management, pricing or commercial analysis with 2+ years of direct reports
• Waste/recycling hauler relationships, 3PL carrier procurement, or field-services vendor networks preferred
• Waste/recycling, logistics, or facilities-services pricing; municipal bid/RFP environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead the Vendor Relations & Bid team; hire, develop, coach; set clear scoreboards
• Recruit and vet haulers, MRFs, processors, and recyclers into the network funnel
• Negotiate master rate agreements including volume tiers, fuel-surcharge caps, rate-lock windows, and payment terms
• Own vendor compliance files — insurance certificates, permits, W-9s, and safety records
• Publish quarterly hauler scorecards; manage cure plans, earn-backs, and vendor exits
• Resolve hauler disputes; activate backup haulers within 48 hours
• Maintain Cost Intelligence Tracker for tips, indices, and regulatory changes
• Score inbound RFPs within 48 hours; build costs from two-to-three quotes per line
• Price within margin floors; manage escalators and documentation
• Own bid calendar with renewals; prepare for client rounds; conduct win/loss reviews
• Perform other duties as assigned
