Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Senior Departmental Buyer within University Housing and Dining to lead advanced purchasing functions and guide procurement across multiple UHD units. You will manage vendor sourcing, contract processes, and policy compliance while enabling efficient workflows.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and 3+ years in purchasing, with higher education experience and UT Austin policy familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 3 years of purchasing or relevant experience.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• 4+ years of purchasing experience (preferred).
• Experience in higher education purchasing and UT Austin policies (preferred).
• Certification as Texas Contract Developer/Manager (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs highly advanced purchasing and procurement work.
• Oversees purchasing activities for supplies, materials, equipment, and services.
• Acts as departmental buyer and procurement resource for UHD and related units.
• Establishes program goals and objectives for purchasing activities.
• Reviews processes to improve efficiency and drive procurement improvements.
• Evaluates technologies to enhance purchasing workflows.
• Performs contract administration and helps execute contracts.
• Maintains knowledge of UT and State procurement policies.
• Sources vendors and manages contract processes from drafting to final execution.
• Communicates clearly with requestors, vendors, and offices.
• Works with others to determine priorities and ensure policy compliance.
• Provides guidance to Departmental Buyer and develops training materials.
