Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking an experienced Engineer 9 to serve as the Project Development Director. This senior leader will oversee statewide preconstruction engineering activities across Road Design, Bridge Design, Location & Surveys, Geotechnical, and Hydraulics-Roads and Bridges, establishing standards and governance frameworks.

Position requires a current Louisiana PE license and supervisory experience, with substitutions noted for advanced

Qualifications

Requires Louisiana Professional Engineer license and two years of supervisory experience or four years of licensed engineering experience (or eight years of professional engineering experience).
Master's or Doctorate degrees substitute for experience as noted, with a maximum substitution of two years.
No substitution for licensed engineering experience; ABET-accredited degree holders gain experience credit accordingly.

Responsibilities

Provide department-wide leadership for the Project Development Division across Road Design, Bridge Design, Location & Surveys, Geotechnical, Hydraulics, and PDN project delivery.
Establish strategic direction, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with the Department’s mission and directives.
Advise executive leadership on risks, trends, challenges, and opportunities affecting preconstruction engineering and project delivery.
