Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Houston, TX is seeking a Transportation Planning Supervisor. You will oversee a team of professionals, coordinate with MPOs, and shape the district's long-range transportation plan in collaboration with regional partners.

The role requires strong supervisory experience, budgeting acumen, and the ability to work with governmental agencies and the public to advance statewide transportation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Transportation planning, public transportation, engineering. Substitutions may be made on a year-for-year basis.
• 5 years of experience in transportation planning. Related graduate education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• 3 years supervisory/managerial experience required; project lead experience may substitute for supervisory duties.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates development of the Unified Work Program with MPOs and monitors expenditures of federal planning funds.
• Develops and monitors the transportation planning budget.
• Oversees district participation in development and implementation of the Unified Transportation Program and State Transportation Plan.
• Oversees long-range and short-range transportation planning with MPOs to develop TIP and Metropolitan Transportation Plans.
• Oversees administration of public transportation grants and related programs.
• Oversees urban transportation planning including land use, travel demand modeling, drafting and graphics.
• Represents the district at meetings and public hearings.
• Serves as liaison between FHWA and MPOs on urban transportation planning matters.
