Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking a planning professional to collect and analyze socio-economic data, update plans with current demographics and economics, and forecast travel trends using GIS-enabled traffic models.

The role supports the Transportation Improvement Program, manages grants, and prepares comprehensive reports. A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's is preferred, with 1–2 years' experience.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of socio-economic forecasting and analysis.
  • Knowledge of transportation modeling.
  • Knowledge of city geography.
  • Knowledge of GIS tools and methods.
  • Knowledge of planning practices and procedures.
  • Skill in problem solving and decision making.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes socio-economic data for reports.
  • Updates short- and long-range plans with current demographics, housing, and economics data.
  • Conducts studies to assess site impact and forecast traveling trends using traffic models.
  • Prepares the annual Transportation Improvement Program and manages related grants.
  • Performs travel time studies for Congestion Management Plan.
  • Maintains census and demographic information.
  • Writes detailed technical reports of findings and recommendations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Transportation, Public Administration, Geography or a related field
Master's Degree preferred
Sufficient experience to understand basic principles (1–2 years)
