Job summary

Arizona Department of Transportation in Phoenix is seeking a Budget Analyst I to manage large budgets, identify efficiency initiatives, and support the preparation and submission of the agency’s budget requests to OSPB and JLBC.

The role involves researching fiscal impacts, ICAP execution, and monthly reporting; remote work up to two days per week within Arizona, with a flexible program supporting work-life balance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Public Administration, or other discipline that requires financial or statistical problem-solving analysis.
  • Two more years of professional experience in budgeting, accounting, financial planning or business management or a Master's Degree in Business (Finance) or Public Administration.
  • Familiarity with legislative reporting and revenue forecasting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation, analysis, and monitoring of ADOT's budget to ensure the most efficient use of the funds and appropriations according to law. Responsible for a complex part of the agency with multiple funds and appropriations totaling more than $30 million.
  • Maintain budgetary information within the AZ360 financial system and run ad hoc and recurring reports. Analyze the reports, research anomalies, and work with respective areas to correct miscodings.
  • Participate in the creation and submission of ADOT's budget request to OSPB and JLBC, research and respond to questions from OSPB and JLBC, determine fiscal impact of proposed legislation, and implement ADOT's budget after it becomes law.
