Job summary

Heller Industries, Inc. is seeking a capable Purchasing Engineer/Buyer in New Jersey to source engineered components, negotiate terms, and manage procurement across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.

The role combines a technical background with hands-on purchasing, focusing on supplier qualification, cost reduction, lead time reduction, and compliant purchasing records while collaborating with global suppliers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required or preferred.
Experience reading engineering drawings, specifications and BOMs.
Experience in purchasing, procurement or supplier management.

Responsibilities

Sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing engineered components, materials, equipment, and services.
Review drawings, BOMs, and technical requirements to understand purchasing needs.
Work with Engineering to identify suitable suppliers meeting technical/quality criteria.
Develop relationships with suppliers and evaluate alternatives to improve cost and lead times.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery with suppliers; lead supplier negotiations.
Research new suppliers and markets for cost and supplier diversification.
Collaborate with global teams to resolve purchasing and supplier-related issues.
Monitor supplier performance and drive cost-reduction and continuous improvement.
