Job summary

OpenAI seeks a Manager, Technical & Operational Accounting in San Francisco to lead complex financing, investments, and equity transactions. You will own the close, disclosures, and controls while partnering with Technical Accounting, Financial Reporting and Controllership to translate conclusions into scalable operational procedures.

You will coordinate with Tax, Legal, Treasury, and external auditors; develop policies, playbooks, and automation to strengthen accounting processes and audit

Qualifications

• CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification or comparable technical-accounting expertise.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, advisory, public or corporate reporting.
• Broad U.S. GAAP expertise across consolidation, instruments, acquisitions and complex ownership structures.
• Familiar with ASC 320, 321, 323, 326, 350, 360, 470, 480, 718, 805, 810, 815, 820.
• Experience with audit-ready memoranda and external auditors.
• Experience with close, reporting, investments, impairments, and policy impact on disclosures.
• Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Accounting Hub or similar ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Own operational accounting for complex financing, investments, equity, and capital arrangements; manage close, presentation, disclosures.
• Lead day-one and recurring accounting for non-standard transactions with technical accounting.
• Perform reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, drive resolution.
• Support monthly/quarterly close; ensure accurate journal entries and disclosures.
• Develop policies/playbooks and automation to improve consistency and control.
• Coordinate with Tax, Legal, Treasury, and external auditors; prepare schedules and memoranda.
